In 1998, the Independent Oil and Gas Association of West Virginia (IOGAWV) established its Scholarship Program in an effort to become more involved in higher education in West Virginia. The Scholarship Program was specifically created to reward the outstanding scholastic achievements of high school seniors whose parents work in the oil and natural gas industry for IOGAWV member companies. Since its inception, IOGAWV has awarded a total of $101,000 in scholarships to these very deserving students.

IOGAWV is now accepting applications for the 2012 Scholarship Program. IOGAWV will accept applications and accompanying essays postmarked between January 3, 2012 and March 30, 2012. From all the applications received, an IOGAWV Scholarship Review Committee will select seven one-time only $1,000 scholarship winners in the latter part of April 2012. The seven winners will be announced at their respective high school awards assemblies or commencement programs.
